This picture was taken at Canyonlands National Park, located in the southeastern Utah. Colorful Landscape which include The Island in the sky, the needles , the Maze , the Colorado River and the Green River add to the attraction  of the state that draws millions of people from around the globe. This is the Mesa Arch at Canyon Lands. You can clearly see the La Sal Mountains about 35 miles away and the Colorado River  in the canyon 2000 feet below

Red Canyon in the Dixie National Forest is a fascinating place with its unique vermillion colored rock formation and strands of Ponderosa Pines all these set against a beautiful blue sky. Different light conditions make for a different scenery as evident from these two pictures.

Hidden in the green oasis of Grapevine Canyon in far northern Death Valley- CA, the Death Valley Ranch, or Scotty's Castle as it is more commonly known, is window into the life and times of the roaring 20's and Depression of the 30's. An engineer's dream home, this was a wealthy matron's (Albert Mussey Johnson & his wife Bessie's) vacation home and a man-of-mystery's (Walter Scott / Death Valley Scotty) hideout and getaway. Scotty was the mystery, the cowboy, the entertainer and a friend that convinced everyone that he had built the castle with money from his rich secret mines in the area.

This is the Artists' Palette in the Death Valley National Park, noted for having various colors of rock. These Colors are caused by the oxidation of different metals (like Iron salts, Mica & Manganese to name a few) on the face of Black Mountains.

Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park is a salt flat that is beneath the face of the Black Mountains that contain the lowest elevation in North America at 282 feet below sea level. The Vast expanse of white is almost crystals of pure table salt .
