The story of our trip to The Midwest

Day 3 of 10
The following morning we left bright and early towards our next destination, The Grand Tetons. No one tells you this but the road between Caper and Moran Junction is desolate with absolutely no vehicles for almost an hour at a stretch. Coming from the northeast, we are used to seeing crowd and this was a big contrast. I must admit a bit scary too especially when we saw one of the digital screen flash "low tire pressure"
in the middle of this nothingness & nowhere. After miles of driving, we found this wayside completely run down repair shop like they show in the horror movies with a craggy man who helped us fix our tire pressure problem. And we moved on...

Before we knew it we were taking the bend in the road, which opened up to the beautiful vistas of The Tetons.. We were so lost in the beauty surrounding us, that we failed to observe the strict speed enforcement in the state of WY, by being 5 miles over the posted speed limit. We were promptly reminded of the same by a cop who appeared out of nowhere..!!

After driving around a bit in the park we landed at the Colter Bay where we had booked our log cabin. We dropped our stuff in the cabin freshened up and went over to Signal Tower to take in the vista. From there we went to Jackson Lodge to see the sunset before returning back to Colter Bay for dinner at the restaurant and calling it a night.

Day 4 of 10
We got up before dawn and drove to Jackson, WY to make it for the first(we had already booked for this) whitewater trip of the day with Dave Hansen which was a combination of scenic trip down the Snake River followed by White Water Rafting in an 8 man raft in class three rapids . Our guide Jason Laughlin "Deuce" was really fun to be with.

You can spot the Bald eagles and their huge nests along the river. And a few lucky people we believe have even spotted Moose & bears in the scenic ride. We just got a glimpse of a white tail deer. We pulled into a boat ramp at West Table to gear up for the white water rafting in the Grand Canyon of the Snake River., all of us were handed oars to help navigate through the rapids. That was an amazing experience.

Back in Jackson after the adventure, we changed and roamed around the downtown for a couple of hours taking in the sights before heading down to Jenny Lake Lodge. At Jenny Lake lodge, instead of trekking to the Hanging Canyon we decided to take the boat ride across to the Hanging Canyon. At Hanging Canyon we trekked up the mountain to see the Hidden Falls and Inspiration point on top of the mountain. The view was breathtaking.

From this point, our trek back to our car was 2.5 miles through the wilderness. For trekking enthusiasts we would advice a tube of bug spray and a few bottles of water (and preferably no food as you don't want to attract bear in this bear country) for this trek which is truly beautiful. We chatted at the top of our voices to ward off any wild animal especially bears that might be in our path.

That evening, satisfied with all the activities of the day, we roamed around Colter Bay for a while and went off to sleep completely spent and oblivious to the sounds of nature outside our cabin .
